Winemaker Eddy Rossi conceived the concept for the winery in October 2000 on the shores of Lago di Garda in Northern Italy.

After several visits to the Southern Highlands he was convinced that the Southern Highlands possessed the ingredients that would allow him to confidently enter this emerging cool-climate region.

He found a perfectly situated site on a corner of the Illawarra Highway and Oldbury Road Sutton Forest, the four partners agreed that this should be the location of their 'dream'. Two individual vineyards a 16 hectare home winery block and a 28 hectare reserve block were planted to produce grapes capable of creating individual and diverse wine styles reflecting the unique quality the region offers.

Southern Highland Wines is owned and operated by three families, Corradi, Rossi and Colloridi all with a long pedigree associated with viticulture and winemaking.

The range and styles of wines available reflect the characteristics of the region, outstanding sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and a classic botrytised chardonnay completes the distinctive Southern Highland Wines Estate range, cool climate wines of elegance and distinction.

Southern Highland Wines uses grapes cultivated in its own vineyards as well grapes sourced from other carefully selected vineyards in the Southern Highlands, to craft elegant and distinctive cool climate wines under the SHW Estate Range.

The quality and consistent style of these wines reflects SHW unique integration of old world winemaking practices with new world technology.
